Let’s help! They need this help

“Upbringing is the foundation in life, everything else is the consequence of upbringing.  If upbringing is postponed until better times, and other problems take priority, these better times never come.”  This is how unfortunate children that no one wants appear, and come to shelters and orphanages.

This is the opening paragraph of the letter from Nizhin shelter for the minors addressed to all who are not indifferent.  Authors of the letter tell us that their shelter is meant to help children who are at the crossroads.  The shelter was opened recently, but in two and a half years it helped almost 500 children.

The shelter’s capacity is 40 children from 3 till 18 years old.  These children are surrounded by experienced, warm, and caring teachers and other staff.  The children are always waiting to welcome visitors and gifts, and in return these kids will offer you charming smiles and interesting poems, and will demonstrate crafts they made themselves.  But material needs surface all the time, and at times they are impeding the daily functioning of the facility. 

The authors of the letter hope very much that you may help them solve some of their problems:

• Create a sports playground


• Camera to take pictures of interesting activities that are conducted with children


• The need in footwear and clothing is constant


• Bed linens and towels are needed


• Developmental toys, board games


• Children’s literature


• Children’s music disks


• School supplies

All children at the shelter have home that among us there are caring people who are not indifferent to the problems children, and who will act to help children and will not leave them in a difficult for them time.
