I visited the orphanage in Mayakovskogo in Troeshcina. This is the place that once used to be the police branch office. Nowadays this is one of the two orphanages where in compliance with Ukrainian law children are kept no more than for three months. Children get here being taken by the police or come themselves, as they know they can always find the room and board there.

Children are kept inside, and there is a courtyard available for them to walk in. There are about 70 children in the orphanage on average. The new ones are always arriving, with those who the children’s office had managed to help or partly help leaving. The problem could be a row with parents for example. Of the kids have no parents, they are sent to the boarding schools.

There is a huge constant need for stationary. What is more needed is different activities for the children such as theatrical shows, concerts, educational training. It is important for these kids to see the value in well-wishing communication, learning, and discipline.
